We are excited to announce that Mountain Regional Water is partnering with the Utah Rivers Council this spring to bring our customers a limited number of heavily discounted American-
made rain barrels as part of this RainHarvest program. We are excited to bring this successful program that encourages water conservation to our residents. The RainHarvest program distributes rain barrels to Utah residents for the purpose of collecting rainwater that falls on rooftops for later use on landscaping and gardens. This program offers residents the opportunity to affordably conserve water through rainwater collection. By purchasing and completing the simple installation of these rain barrels, Utahns can reduce municipal water demand and improve the water quality of local streams, rivers, and lakes, by decreasing polluted runoff.
Why collect rainwater? Rainwater harvesting is legal in Utah, and with record low snowpack and ongoing extreme drought conditions, there has never been a better time to start collecting your own water. Not only does rain harvesting reduce demand on municipal water systems, it also reduces the amount of pollution that enters the Great Salt Lake and local rivers from urban runoff during storm events.
How do I collect rainwater? During storm events, the rain that falls on rooftops flows through rain gutters and downspouts and can be collected by rain barrels. American made of 100% recycled plastic, these 50-gallon Ivy Rain Barrels are user-friendly and one of the most popular options for rainwater collecting across the country. They come with a locking lid, mosquito screen and 3/4” valve that can be connected to a garden hose. The rain barrels have linking capability that allows users to easily connect multiple barrels together.
When can I purchase a rain barrel? Starting on March 18th , Mountain Regional Water customers are invited to order these $60 rain barrels at https://www.rainwatersolutions.com/products/rainharvest, while supplies last. There are a limited number of $60 barrels so place your order today! Once the subsidized barrels run out, $88 rain barrels are available for purchase by any member of the public. The sale window will remain open until late April, 2026. The barrels will be distributed at a one-day, in-person, event on Wednesday, May 6 th, 2026. Rain barrels will not be shipped to residents.

Please note, in some instances, purchasing a barrel is a two-step process.
